What is GoddessGuide Body Confidence?
GoddessGuide Body Confidence is my personally created self-help therapy mainly for women who have a negative body image whether because of an eating disorder, deformity or simply a perceived feeling of physical inadequacy, such as weight issues. You sit for me nude during a session or several sessions whilst I draw and/or paint you.
How will GoddessGuide Body Confidence help me?
By facing your demons and sitting for me nude to be drawn or painted, it often helps to overcome our feelings of bodily inadequacy. We see ourselves very differently to how others see us and sadly in most cases, this is negatively. This has grown through a belief system and image that has been built up over years since we were young, primarily by our parents, teachers and any adult peers around us. It’s no wonder so many of us suffer from low self esteem when what we’re continually being confronted with and thus comparing ourselves to, are the very unrealistic models used in just about every type of media in our lives. I believe we are all born equal, without exception. Along the way our environment and those in it have changed us. The great thing is that as it’s only our belief we have the power to reprogram it so we can serve our highest purpose. We are each and every one of us unique and special. The way forward is to learn to accept and love ourselves unconditionally just as we are, beginning now. We may as well as we’ll be with ourselves all our lives!
You may simply want to be painted specifically because you are happy with the body you have and you want to give yourself or your partner a special and unique gift. This has become increasingly popular for individuals and couples in what is known as erotic imagery.
How does GoddessGuide Body Confidence work?
I attempt through drawing and/or painting you nude, to show that every body shines with an internal and thus external beauty, and that it is only our own perceived negative mental image and belief that makes it otherwise.
Preparation at Home: The following is how I suggest a session might work with you first preparing yourself at home; put on some music you love that makes you feel good. Have a glass of wine or champagne! Then standing naked in front of a full length mirror, really look at yourself positively and fully accepting your body. Describe out loud what you see from head to toe, using non-judgmental words such as ‘my face is heart shaped, my skin is brown, my eyes are blue’ etc. This helps you understand the difference between your appearance (what you actually look like) and your body image (what you think you look like) which usually are quite opposite. Especially notice your good parts, the ones you already love. Experiment with different poses of your body both standing and sitting, from all angles, even crazy ones. Have fun doing it! Have some positive affirmations ready for using during our session (if you would like help with this please let me know before hand).
The actual session with me: When you arrive, I will welcome you with a glass of cava or infusion to relax you. We chat a bit about how you might want your poses done. You can choose or bring whatever type of music you would like to listen to. This is important as future use in anchoring/triggering when you are wanting to build your body image further. All sketches of you are done totally nude. It is often only necessary to have one session but you may feel you would like more. I will guide you throughout the session as and if necessary to suggest good and comfortable poses (we do several). With the exception of music, during the session I work best in silence. For you, using the time to meditate positive thoughts, images and affirmations of your body will help reinforce the work we’re doing.
I work with a number of mediums – watercolour, graphite (pencil), charcoal and pastels. If you have any preference for medium or colours, please let me know at the beginning. There will be a variety of poses throughout the session – sitting, standing, lying etc. It will basically consist of 1½ hours including a short break.
POST Session AT HOME: It’s important to continue building your body image confidence after (and in-between) sessions to aid and empower your ongoing self healing. Begin a body diary. Write down all the great and positive bits about your body that you love and focus on these only until you can start to see all parts of your body in the same way. Support them with positive affirmations and repeat frequently throughout the day i.e. when you first wake up in the morning, before going to sleep at night, getting into the shower, driving around in your car etc. Remember, no one can make you feel better about yourself than you. Make you your best friend. You might as well, as you will be together for all of your life! Be confident, even if at first you don’t feel it, others find it attractive and sexy. And most importantly, be grateful for your body, its health and how well it has served you thus far – and is still serving you.
